As well as being a design heritage, Chesterfield furniture is known to last for generations with appropriate care and functions as an independent indication of quality. The following quality rules seek to ensure that the name is used only for products deserving of the authentic Chesterfield designation.
(a) Manufacturing and quality guarantee: A guarantee of at least 20 years for domestic use and 10 years for commercial use from manufacturer must be provided in association with the products and services to cover frame construction, repair craftsmanship, and material life (excluding fair wear & tear).
(b) Filling standards: Foams used may be at various densities but must comply with the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988 (as amended) or such other regulations as may take their place from time to time, and any other applicable safety regulations or other legislation.
(c) Fire safety: A Chesterfield sofa must comply with all relevant UK fire safety regulations in all respects.
